Hot! Tonight was my first with Aldi’s Hot Italian Sausage. It was hot and I mean the hot in the middle of P.H.A.T. Only three ingredients made a unique and gorgeous weeknight meal for 4. In the future I would like to experiment more with the hot sausage. Tonight, however, I had 3 impatient mouths to feed so I whipped this bad boy together in less than 15 minutes.
Ingredients: 1 package of frozen cheese tortellini, 2 hot Italian sausages, 1 jar of spagetti sauce.
Boil water. Slice the 2 hot Italian sausages and cook in a skillet over medium-high heat. Throw tortellini in the boiling water and boil for about 5 minutes. Drain. When sausage is cooked add the tortellini and the sauce. Heat and serve. Pair with a simple green salad and steamed frozen fancy green beans for a completely nutritious meal. Pair with a glass of Winking Owl Merlot to be completely gourmetgotgorgeous!
Aldi Price Breakdown: 1 package of frozen cheese tortellini $2.49 (don’t be tricked by the smaller packages that only serve 2), 2 hot Italian sausages- 80cents, 1 jar of spagetti sauce- $1.19= $4.48 for a fast, hot meal for 4. Add $1.00 for the salad and/or 75 cents for green beans.
Yum. Rachel, sausage sounds like it could have a lot of uses. Are the sausages in the fresh meat or frozen meat are?
They are in the frozen. I only used 2 in this dish…the package comes with 5. What to do with 3 lonely sausages?
